AEDG Mechanical Engineering students, Jode Fourie (Masters), Brian Jack (Honours) and Wian van Aswegen (Honours) were sponsored by Eastern Cape Branch of SAIMechE and eNtsa Research to attend the 2022 RAPDASA Conference in Somerset West, based on the outstanding work and outputs they have achieved in the last year as part of the AEDG group within the NMU.

The 2022 IMTS (International Manufacturing Trade Show) was held early in September at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, and the AEDG were represented there by our innovative Additively Manufactured Golf Putter.

AEDG student engineer Brian Jack recently took part in the 2022 Knysna Half-Marathon and finished in an impressive 1h 59:56, just making it under the 2-hour mark in his first ever attempt at a half-marathon. Impressive Stuff...well done Brian!

The EBET Faculty Open Day was held on Saturday 7th May, and the AEDG student team members participated, setting up a demo stall outside of the AEDG Lab to interact with visitors.

Today we handed over the prototypes of our Blood Alert device to Dr Lorenzo Boretti at the Livingstone Hospital for in-situ testing...the AEDG student team members developed the design from conceptualization to functional output in just over 5 weeks including in-house testing which is an outstanding effort; well done to all of them...

We welcomed the IGEMS Learners to the AEDG Lab once more on Tuesday 29th March...our guys demonstrated the latest projects we are dealing with to our curious & enthusiastic visitors. Its always a tonic to welcome the IGEMS Learners because of their fascination in STEM related projects and we hope to see many of them one day walking the halls of the NMU as future Engineers...

AEDG team member, Jode Fourie, visited the CHPC/CSIR facility in Cape Town today to meet with Charles Crosby from the CHPC and Ernst Burger from Altair to discuss the project and meet face to face for the first time after months of online conversation (Charles provided the coffee as requested by Ernst as a pre-requisite for him joining the meeting!).
